Library: our Knowledge Resource Centre

Books are our friend and philosopher for life. The more you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn the more places you will go. To inculcate the habit of reading at Akshara, we have a library period right from Kindergarten onwards. A well resourced and exhaustive library is the highlight of the Akshara infrastructure, where our children get to explore different books.

We have 8000+ books in our library which is well ventilated with good lighting and spacious reading hall. The library includes

• Journal Section for reference
• Magazines & Newspapers to update on news and happenings around the world.
• Encyclopedias.
• Rich stock of Literature and story books.
• Wide range of Audio and Video DVDs and CDs.

In pre-primary section, we have introduced the concept of a Reading Corner and equipped it with age-appropriate story books.

In primary section, we have introduced the concept of a Class Library and books get issued to it from the main library.

National Library Day is organized in the school on the 12th of August every year in memory of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, an exceptional librarian and mathematician. Various literary activities are conducted like quizzes and DEAR (Drop Everything And Read)
